Vibha Venkatesha (she/her) was first introduced to Amnesty while living in Bangalore, India and has been involved with Amnesty USA in many capacities for the past 7 years, including as a Sexual & Reproductive Rights Advocate Trainer, National Youth Action Committee Midwest Representative, Founder of the AIUSA Youth Collective, Global Strategic Plan Ambassador and AIUSA’s first delegate on the Global Youth Collective where she helped create the Global Youth Power Action network. Vibha has also represented AIUSA at the 2019 Global Assembly in South Africa and AI at One Young World and the UN ECOSOC forum. She has facilitated workshops and organized on a range of human rights and sustainable development issues locally, nationally and internationally, led the drafting committee for The Hague Youth Declaration of Human Rights presented to the UN, participated in an expert consultation at UN Office of Human Rights drafting the World Programme on Human Rights Education and lobbied on behalf of human rights defenders to the UN Envoy on Youth. For the past 6 years she has worked in public policy and fiscal analysis for the City of Detroit, focusing on sustainable urban planning, economic development, and a Task Force reducing recidivism for formerly incarcerated people.
